한동수 교수는 한양대학교 공과대학 건축공학부를 졸업하고 동대학원에서 불교건축으로 석사학위(1986년)를 취득한 뒤 한국정신문화연구원에서 근무했다. 이후 대만의 국립대만대학에서 중국도시역사로 재차 석사학위(1994년)를 취득하고, 중국 북경의 청화대학에서 조선시대와 명청시대의 건축 및 도시에 관한 교류사를 주제로 박사학위(1998년)를 받았다. 귀국하여 인하대학교 공과대학 건축학부(2000-2002년)를 거쳐 2002년 3월부터 한양대학교에 부임하여 현재 동아시아 건축역사에 관한 다양한 수업 지도와 저술, 학술, 대외 활동을 하고 있다.

Prof. Han Dong-Su graduated from the department of architectural engineering at Hanyang University. After he got a master’s degree on Buddhist architecture at the same university (1986), he worked at the Academy of Korean Studies. And then he went to study abroad in Taiwan and China. At National Taiwan University, he took a master’s degree again on the subject of Chinese urban history (1994), and at Tsinghua University, he was awarded the degree of doctor on the subject of architectural and urban historic interchange between the Joseon Dynasty and the Ming Dynasty (1998). After his return to Korea, he taught architecture and urban history of East Asia. He taught students at Inha University (2000-2001). Since March 2002, he has taught architectural and urban history of East Asia at Hanyang University,
