남성택 교수는 1997년 서울대학교 건축학과에서 학사, 2005년 프랑스 파리 마른느-라-발레 국립 건축대학(EAVT)에서 석사 및 프랑스 공인건축사를 획득하였다. 이어서 스위스 정부 초청장학생의 자격으로 스위스 로잔 연방공대(EPFL)로 자리를 옮겨 자크 뤼캉 교수의 건축이론역사 제1연구실(LTH1)에 소속되어 연구하며 박사학위를 받았다. 2019년 뉴욕대학교 인스티튜트 오브 파인아츠의 방문학자로 활동했다. 서울 한길 건축사무소, 파리 Du Besset et Lyon Architectes, 로잔 PRS Architectes 등의 건축실무도 경험했다. 건축 이론 및 역사와 관련해 도출된 연구의 결과들은 여러 국제 건축학술지에의 게재하거나 로잔, 파리, 서울 등에서 진행되었던 초청 강연들을 통해 이미 발표된 바 있으며, 앞으로도 일부 보완하고 발전시켜 다양한 형식으로 발표할 계획 중이다. 현재는 건축을 중심으로 오브제 디자인에서 도시에 이르기까지, 스케일의 구분 없이 삶을 담는 인위적 공간 환경과 연관된 구성, 구축, 변형 등 총체적 이론 연구와 이에 기반한 건축설계에 관심을 두고 있다. 『오늘의 건축을 규명하다』(2019)를 번역한 바 있으며 다양한 공저 및 편저(아키라우터) 출판 활동도 하고 있다.

Sung-Taeg Nam is teaching at Hanyang University, Seoul Campus since 2013. He holds a Bachelors of Architecture from Seoul National University, Diplome of Master and Architecte DPLG from École d’architecture de la ville & des territoires Paris-Est in Marne la-Vallée, France and Ph.D. in École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland. In 2019, he conducted research as a visiting scholar at The Institute of Fine Arts, New York University. He published numerous articles in various international journals of architectural research, such as Massilia in France, Matieres in Switzerland, Revista de Arquitectura(Ra) in Spain, etc. He also has professional experience in Hankil Architect in Seoul, Du Besset et Lyon Architectes in Paris and PRS Architectes in Lausanne. His major focus is on architecture without any distinction in scale, ranging from object design to urbanism. He is interested in design research concerning theories such as composition, construction, and transformations that are related to the built environments for human life.
